The Best Books on Book Marketing

This article will be especially helpful if you want to self-publish. However, traditional publishing also requires you to market yourself, don’t get fooled by this myth.

When I read these books, my writing game COMPLETELY changed.

I knew I needed to build a platform. The question was: how to do it.

I started this blogging about writing because it’s my passion and I also wanted to make money with the blog itself.

I think it’s a great way to build your platform but it’s a very longterm marketing strategy.

You’ll have to make your blog gets bigger. You’ll have to drive traffic to it, write posts, collect emails… it’s good because eventually you’ll be known as Yourself, the Writer.

However, there is a shorter term approach, that is to write what the market wants. This means that it doesn’t really matter you by yourself first but the book. The book will stand by itself. People will buy the book because it’s a contemporary romance, not because Isadora Felix wrote it.

So, if you want to give this kind of approach a try, I’ll list here the best books on book marketing that I’ve read recently.

I mean it when I think every writer should read it.

This is what my Kindle for this part is looking like:

The ones that are not entirely read is because I’ve come back on them and read it again.

The Best Books on Book Marketing

1. Write to Market

If you want to learn how to make money on Amazon, THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL OF BOOKS.

You won’t regret it.

It teaches you the step by step how to write a book that will sell without you having to promote yourself as a writer. The book will stand on their own because of their genre, the category, the keywords, everything else.

This is the strategy that I’ll follow next (and I’ll write about the results) here.

Actually, this book inspired me to define my two approaches to marketing: The Two Paths, as I call it. The first one is through you growing your own image as an author, the second one is writing to sell. And this books teaches you how.

Pay attention to me, buy this book.

Buy it.

2. Six Figures Author: Using DATA to Sell Books

This was the second book I wrote by Chris.

It’s even more amazing than Write to Market.

To me, this is the bundle that will teach you how to get to six-figures monthly.

It is SO smart.

It tells you why you shouldn’t rely on social media to promote your books. That you SHOULDN’T tell all your friends and family to buy your book because it messes up the Amazon data, it will make it harder for Amazon to know to whom they should tell about your book.

It’s so smart.

It CHANGED the way I saw this market.

3. Newsletter Ninja

I told you many, many, many times about why e-mail marketing is so relevant. I have this article here that goes in detail about it.

But this book is a very detailed version and it explains basically everything you need to know to learn about email marketing for authors.

It tells you how to start, the strategy to use, and how to PROVIDE value (and not only ask for sales).

Get it. It’s a game-changer.

4. Reader Magnets

This one is stupidly cheap on Kindle and it’s AMAZING.

It literally gives you the formula to collect emails to your email strategy as an author.

Nick Stephenson is a BIG NAME in this self-publish business.

And this little book is direct to the point and so good.

5. BONUS: 20BooksTo50k Facebook Group

This is not an affiliate link and it’s not a book. But it is almost better. I discovered these books above there. I dare to say that it’s THE BEST FACEBOOK GROUP if you want to become a successful author.

They have A LOT of information and everybody there is determined to make money as an author.

I go to a lot of Facebook groups and the majority of them have this attitude here:

  1. It’s almost impossible to make money writing, especially if you’re self-publishing.
  2. Marketing is too hard and I don’t know how to do it, I’m not willing to learn, I don’t want to do it.
  3. You need to spend 5k to make your book good to be publishable. Don’t you ever dare of thinking of doing your own cover or editing it yourself to save money. I don’t care if you’re never going to get this money back.
  4. I don’t understand the strategies and I don’t care, I’ll write whatever and pray.

This group on the other hand is THE OPPOSITE. It’s FULL of successful authors with a mentality that I’ve never seem like online. It gave me hope. Honestly, it’s full of six-figures authors, they have a collection of documents to help you, and it’s so good.

Here is the link.

Some Inspirational Words:

If you hate marketing, you can learn it. I mean it. It’s the most daunting part of this industry but once you get the hang of it and learn how to do it, it’s going to so much easier, I promise.

I used to HATE MARKETING and now it’s my favorite part since you see tangible results day after day!

You can do it, you’re already much better than people that don’t even want to RESEARCH it.

Keep moving forward! Let’s go together on this journey to becoming a successful author and living off writing.

This is my dream and I know it’s the dream of many authors out there.

Guys, that’s it. With these 4 books and this Facebook Group, I think you’re good to go to understand book marketing MUCH better, especially if you DON’T WANT to have an author’s blog.
